Mia-Kama Jonker

Mia-Kama is a solo loop-artist musician born and raised in Johannesburg. Her love for music started since her first day on earth as she was one of those kids that danced and sang before she could walk or talk.

She has been involved in the arts and performed on multiple stages since primary school. When she left high-school she kick started her career into the music scene, building herself up from only an acoustic guitar to a full live production set up and becoming a loop-artist that has played multiple festivals around South Africa.

Mia-Kama has received professional vocal training from Sing-On founder, Marisa Lawrence, who encouraged and developed vocal strength and agility as well as different ways of developing her own unique style of singing.

Since then she has become the front woman, lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist of the up-and-coming indie/alternative/funk/rock band - Far from Familiar. They have also played multiple festivals around South Africa.

Music is so fantastic and raw. Music benefits the mind, because it does physically alter your brain. And that’s what she hopes to achieve. Changing the world one note at a time. And helping others find their voice.
